Helping Hearts: Cardiology Care for Your Pet
Your pet’s heart is precious. And as such, it’s only natural that you should want to protect the health of this life-giving organ to the best of your ability. That’s why the veterinarians and staff at All Creatures Animal Hospital are committed to providing your pet with outstanding cardiac care, and to helping you do the same.
Your Pet’s Heart Health
Protecting your pet’s heart health is important. And like us, there are a number of common sense approaches to caring for your pet’s heart. Maintaining your pet at a healthy weight and encouraging plenty of physical exercise is a great start to keeping your pet’s heart healthy. Likewise, regular dental care, both at home and through veterinary dental exams, is key to protecting your pet’s heart, too. In fact, it may surprise you to know that the number-one cause of heart disease in pets is poor dental health.
At your regularly scheduled wellness visits, your vet will check your pet’s heart health and run routine blood work to ensure that your pet’s overall heart health is on the right track.
If an anomaly is detected, we may order more extensive diagnostic testing, such as ultrasound or ECG screenings, to diagnose and monitor your pet’s condition. If surgery is necessary, we will coordinate care with a specialist or surgeon and work as a team to provide your pet with the best possible care.
